"Think of a time when you benefited from concerted cultivation AND/OR a time when you were subject to accomplishment of natural growth."
Before I was even in elementary school, my mom threw me into dancing lessons at the rec center in Cedar Rapids. I was in ballet and tap dancing and even though I don't necessarily remember it all too well, I remember liking tap dancing and I wish I would have continued to do it. However, I think it taught me to try new things and not be afraid of doing activities, especially since I was very shy when I was little and I was just thrown into a class of people that I didn't even know. I was barely comfortable with the people in my preschool, let alone different kids from different towns. It was a new experience, but I think I liked it. Ever since my mom hasn't thrown me into anything; if I wanted to do something or join a sport, group, or leisure activity, my parents encouraged me to try it and were supportive of me the entire way through. The tap dancing and ballet lessons taught me the sense of natural growth that I have come to know. It was so long ago, but I believe that combined with my parents nurturing taught me that I can chose what activities I want to do and no matter what, my parents will be proud of me.
